High-Risk Pregnancy Services

At Fort Sanders Perinatal Center we provide a comprehensive range of high-risk pregnancy services and procedures to assess your baby’s condition, rule out or confirm potential medical complications, and help physicians manage or prevent difficulties. We strive to improve pregnancy outcomes and ensure optimal health for every woman and infant.

It’s always our goal to provide complete care for you and your baby. That’s why we prepare for all possible situations and partner with the neonatologists at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital to provide complete care for our smallest patients. Through our collaboration, we can provide emergent care and medical services for infants, including a neonatal intensive care unit, neonatologists and a comprehensive newborn nursery.

Women Who Could Benefit from High-Risk Pregnancy Services Include Those With:

• Concerns regarding potential for her baby to have birth defects or abnormalities
• Medical problems such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, lupus, heart disease, kidney disease or a history of thrombosis
• A history of prior pregnancy complications, such as preterm labor, premature rupture of membranes, recurrent pregnancy loss, birth defects or fetal growth disturbance
• A current pregnancy conceived by infertility treatment
• A multiple pregnancy such as twins, triplets or quadruplets

Prenatal Appointments

Prenatal care provides the best care for your pregnancy and unborn child, but also prepares you for the delivery of a healthy baby.

Prenatal Diagnostic Services

Prenatal testing is used to evaluate the health of your baby and check for birth defects.

Prenatal Screening

Prenatal screening is used to test for diseases or conditions, such as chromosome defects.

High Resolution Ultrasound Services

Our ultrasound team of 12 sonographers have experience ranging from 5 to 30 years in obstetric imaging and are certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. They couple their expertise with the entire high-risk pregnancy team of perinatologists, nurse practitioners and genetic counselors to provide excellent care and accuracy in diagnosing fetal abnormalities.

Genetic Counseling

Genetic counseling allows us to better understand your unique situation to identify risk factors and options so we can develop a personalized pregnancy care plan in conjunction with your wishes.

Diabetes Counseling

Our diabetes counselors work closely with you to explain the importance of blood glucose control and monitoring, nutrition counseling, and medication management.
